About

We are Chance

We are a charity powered by volunteers, battling homelessness and poverty, with hope, help and a hot meal.

We are changing lives, one difficult step at a time. We are coming together as a community, to give disadvantaged people a fighting chance.

What started in December 2017 as a small project to help people experiencing homelessness in Crewe, has become a registered charity that provides practical support at our community pantry and kitchen, a place of contact for endless advice and hope.

Our name really does say it all. We provide a Chance.

Saturday Kitchen

Saturday Kitchen

Every Saturday, without fail, our volunteers open the doors at Jubilee House to provide a hot and healthy meal to homeless and disadvantaged people of Crewe. This was the first service that we offered, and its continuing success proves just how valuable it is for our regulars. For some it’s the only hot meal that they’ll have all week, and we make sure that it’s in an environment where they feel comfortable and at home.

Additionally, we offer free access to our NHS nurse practitioner appointments, an optician, podiatry and counselling. We believe there are complex reasons people become homeless.

We see the whole person and not just their situation.

Open to all adults, every Saturday, 4pm - 5:30pm.

The Community Pantry

The Community Pantry

In October 2018 we opened the doors of our Community Pantry - our members’ only supermarket. Here we provide sustainable, affordable food and household items to those struggling to make ends meet. For just £4 a week, members are able to choose from a range of items up to the value of £40. We are also on hand to offer advice, referrals for money and debt advice and support, counselling, podiatry, school shoes and school uniforms, heating and shopping grants to those who need it most.

Open to members Monday and Friday, 8:30am to 12pm.

11-13 Coronation Crescent, Crewe, CW1 4EJ

Chance Changing Lives receives National Lottery Funding

Chance Changing Lives has been successful in its bid to The National Lottery Community Fund and is delighted to learn that it is to receive funding for the next three years totalling £161,237.  The funding will secure the salaries of staff whilst enabling the team to confidently move forward with developmental plans.

The benefit of three-year funding will enable longer term planning to take place which will make a huge difference in prioritising the needs of local communities.

Currently, the charity is supporting 164 families each week from the Community Pantry on Coronation Crescent in Crewe. This funding will mean that more time can be devoted to developing additional support for Pantry members.  Additionally, the Saturday Kitchen supports circa 50 guests each week and the funding will enable additional resources to ensure that people can be assisted more effectively.
